Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
I routinely disconnect the external monitor cable (VGA) from my laptop (Lenovo x200s) to connect it to my work desktop when I need to print things (yes, a kvm switch would be nice). After doing that today and coming back about 4 minutes later (about) I returned to my laptop's display (at least) frozen. Nothing would respond. I attempted CTRL+ALT+F1 to no avail. I had to do a hard reboot.
