Public bug reported: Hi guys i am not sure if this is the right place to file this bug here. if not please forgive me.
i recently baught a hp dv6 3150sa 64bit win7 laptop and dual booted with ubuntu 10.10 64 bit.installation was flawless and on my first reboot after the installation a message poped up telling that there is a a driver available for you computer. it read ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics card driver. I installed this driver and on reboot i chose ubuntu10.10 again which took me to the command mode. i tried doing cold boot a couple of time more and then realised i have lost the graphical desktop. To my skills re installation was the only option and i havent installed this driver again. i have got an inbuilt ATI mobility readon HD 5470 graphic card(switchable with intel HD GMA) regards ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: fglrx (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic 2.6.35.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.2: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1366x768 1280x720 1152x768 1024x768 800x600 848x480 720x480 640x480 edid-base64: DRM.card0.VGA.2: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DRM.card1.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1366x768 edid-base64: AP///////wBMo1E2AAAAAAASAQOAIhN4Cof1lFdPjCcnUFQAAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBEhtWclAADDAwICUAWMIQAAAZAAAADwAAAAAAAAAAAB60AnQAAAAA/gBTQU1TVU5HCiAgICAgAAAA/gAxNTZBVDA1LUgwMQogABU= DRM.card1.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: Date: Thu Jan 6 19:44:58 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-24-generic root=UUID=e16c742b-7d7b-4308-812e-df412b4b57df ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: fglrx-installer dmi.bios.date: 08/05/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.12 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 144A dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 65.27 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.12:bd08/05/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPPaviliondv6NotebookPC:pvr0589110000242B20010020100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn144A:rvr65.27:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: 0589110000242B20010020100 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: maverick architecture: x86_64 kernel: 2.6.35-24-generic ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698274 Title: ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver issues _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
