I hve the exact same problem in both 10.04 32bit and 11.10 64bit. I also
own a Compaq Presario with a NVidia Geforce 8200M.
A detail which may be of some importance, according to the driver search
on the NVIDIA website, there aren't any drivers for the 8200M. The linux
drivers which seem to work

The image is then distributed over two displays (because my mouse can
get 'lost'), but one of them is blanked (on standby, while it should lit
up). Do you want me to send all of the log-files again? How do I do this
without opening a new bug?

Sorry i don'rt understand.
you have one image on two desktop or two identical image on the two desktop.
Have tried to set in system - preference - monitor cloned monitor (or something
similar, mine is italian) look at the screenshot, i'm pointing with the mouse

Well... with twinview enabled I should have one image over two desktops, but
the monitor that is connected via HDMI gives no image at all (so I have half a
desktop).
What I actually want is just one screen that works and the other one disabled
(because the screens aren't of the same size), but
