The problem was that the memory was full, after a few attempts I succeeded into
installing Ubuntu anyway.
Also, for this reason I'm not able to reproduce the bug, since it happened
during installation...

Yeah, memory limitations are a common issue with USB installs. I
probably wouldn't recommend trying to install/use proprietary drivers
with usb livecd environments as it's still too buggy.
