Public bug reported:

UK Linux newbie has Shuttle SH55J2 with Intel i3-550, H55 chipset & LG Flatron
L1710B. Installing Ubuntu 9.10 from magazine CD is fine, monitor is recognised
as 'LG Electronics 17' and display is crisp.
Upgrading to 10.04 appears to install without a hitch, but display deteriorates
now having a permanent judder which is very tiring to view; changing display
resolution brings no improvement - some displays are worse. Monitor is now
recognised as Goldstar. Upgrading to 10.10, brings no change.
Followed comments on forums about amending grub to add 'nomodeset' after
'splash', but found myself dumped in Terminal with no what to do next. Managed
to get back to starting position (not sure how), but no further forward on
screen judder.

Is there anything on the 9.10 CD that I can use to correct things? if
so, what and how?

Alternatively have Shuttle driver DVD, but content is aimed at Windows
(which I don't have). Is there anything there I can use to improve
things? If so, what and how?

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
