Hmm, hard to say for certain what might be going on. Logs would help.
Anyway, given that it's something occurring during boot and seems to
have some relation to usb or wireless devices I'm going to guess it is a
kernel bug.
Good to hear at least the -fglrx driver offers you a workaround for now.

I've just got into Linux this year after long hiatus started with Maverick
and as such still have getting used to all the components within. Alas
forgive me if I maybe wrong in submitting bug, especially considering this
my first submission.

Mazli, there's no evidence in any of your log files of either a crash or
a freeze (those are two different error conditions btw).
Do you have any log files with pertinent error messages? How are you
concluding this is an Xorg freeze? The dependency on the internet
connection sounds really odd an
