** Information type changed from Private Security to Public
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
My screen suddenly turns black. Happens in average once a day. Keeps
black even if changing to another console.
This is happening to me randomly and with no apparent reason (no lid
closing, hibernation, etc.). Power is set to sleep when laptop lid
closed and system always wakes up properly.
I have the same problem since I installed Ubuntu 11.04. Almost every
time I open the lid of my laptop (computer on, not suspended) the screen
freezes. I can tell the processes are still alive but nothing moves in
the screen (except the mouse). Usually I switch to a terminal (Ctrl +
F1) and restart
One more thing,
* This is happening to me with a fresh-install.
* This is happening to me not only when I hibernate my system but when I leave
the lid closed with the system unsuspended.
* I've also experienced this while doing nothing (gdm restarts unexpectedly
and the same message appears
There is a temporal workaround:
killall -9 compiz

I wonder if the same happens on clean install? For me this is a real
dealbreaker and I wouldn't mind reinstalling if it helps.
