btw, I notice the same thing when I try to run gnome-settings-daemon or gnome-session w/ rebuild from git master xorg. Since the crash seems to be around libxi, I wonder a bit about the out of tree multitouch stuff that is normally in ubuntu xorg (and maybe effects headers the gnome stuff was
