Some bisecting jobs are done, it seems the following commit fixed the
external mode issue.

But it causes build-fail in PPA above.
I modified and re-applied the patch (120_lvds-first_2.patch) and put in
my PPA;

Sarvatt it looks to me like the fedora LVDS first patches would fix this
