BTW: On the video I have the following script running on lightDM start.

With this script removed lightDM shows the same login screen on both displays.

running Fedora 16. The Xserver fails to start when there is an external
monitor attached and the LCD screen is closed. The problem only occurs
if the screen is closed at power on, presumably because the BIOS
disables the LCD scr

So, looks like it's trying to boot up on crtc #3, but presumably only 1
and 2 are attached. That happens well before X.org loads, so it looks
to be a bug in kernel drm.
Please turn on kernel graphics debugging - run 'sudo xdiagnose', it's
the first checkbox. Check it, click apply, reboot, and re

After some try and fail I have one minor workaround, instead unplug-plug
hdmi cable, I need to press [fn]+[F8] keys two times (this switch
monitors two times) when grub menu displays. Better than stressing hdmi
