I'm reopening and removing the duplicate. I still experience the problem
on an eeepc 1015PE.

lightdm fails to start on Live CD on intel: [drm] failed to set drm
interface
Only 1 system shows this problem. I tried on another one which had the
same issue and it boots fine with the same USB stick.

This appears to be a ubiquity problem. It's crashing in ubiquity-dm due
to gir problems. ubiquity-dm is trying to call
GdkPixbuf.render_pixmap_and_mask but it isn't being found.
The X log error message
Confirmed on a Dell Mini 10v, so it seems pretty hw unspecific. I just
get a black screen when lightdm starts. When I sudo stop lightdm and
kill the X process, and sudo start lightdm it still does not work, so
it's not a startup race.
When I do startx from a VT, it works fine.

Thanks I believe I had this problem with the live CD today also with
Intel graphics; I used nomodeset to be able to get the live environment
to come up.

Title:
lightdm fails to start on Live CD on intel: [drm]
If I start with --verbose on the command line, then selects 'Try Ubuntu', the
live session boots correctly.
That confirms it is not a driver issue. Closing the corresponding task.
