You have been subscribed to a public bug: Slow Cursor Select I use both Ubuntu 10.04 and XP on the same computer, depending on what I need to do.
Ubuntu has a usability problem with selection using the cursor. In XP if I position the cursor where I want to begin selection, press the left button and move the mouse to select text, the left button action is instant and no errors occur. In Ubuntu on the same machine, pressing the left mouse button to begin selection has a delay that causes errors. The start of selection effect is delayed by about a second or so, causing the first part of the intended selection to be missed if I don't proactively think "WAIT or you will have an error!" and then proceed. In comparison the difference is VERY clear and highly annoying. This is present in all apps and in the OS functions, so I presume it is an OS problem. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cursor select text -- Text select cursor delay much too long - all apps and OS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/858562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
