I have the same problem, and i think "is not a unity problem", I tried doing " openbox --replace " to switch form unity to openbox and I have the same problem in openbox, I can't move a window using the touchpad. My machine is a UL80VT (same as UL30VT but 14") the machine have Elantech touchpad.
