I have the same problem with Oneiric for every user on my laptop. But i have found a disgusting way to pass the problem for the time being. Put the next statement in the Startup Applications Preferences for every user: 'pkexec /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-backlight-helper --set-brightness X'
