Unbelievable. The problem is that the contrast is set to 0 (black screen) when executing the command. I can turn it up manually and everything is fine. So the bug is invalid ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: x11-xserver-utils (Ubuntu)
