Public bug reported:

I've been running Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2 for about 6 days without issue,
but today it has become both unresponsive (X was using 100% CPU
(confirmed by SSH login) and refusing to switch to virtual terminal or
respond to keyboard/mouse input, fixed by "kill -kill"ing X; regular
"kill" didn't kill it) and less stable (X crashed a couple hours after
the first incident, bringing me back to the login screen).

I have previously used Fedora 16 with this same hardware and it had a
similar issue: my system stopped responding to all input (including SSH
requests) every few days. The only solution in that case was to hard
reboot.
