Looks like mtrack is ignored if synaptics is available. As workaround I remove xserver-xorg-input-all and add next to /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Section InputClass Identifier Multitouch Touchpad Driver mtrack MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event* MatchIsTouchpad on
