I'd like to post this as a new bug since for some reason there's no
movement (bug #938039) and the bug is really affecting my productivity
at work.
Again, when adjusting the keyboard backlight by pressing F5 on the
keyboard a few times the touchpad is effectively 'dead'. I can replicate
this every time.
Needless to say, my standard USB mouse works just fine.
