Rick Spencer, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from

I can reproduce this error every time. Quite simple, after a resume,
drag and drop support fails. Which is too bad, because it works great
upon first boot. I would deeply appreciate a fix!

It appears the hardware buttons are disabled when there is no finger
touching the touchpad above the buttons.
This makes it impossible to middle click by pressing both left and right mouse
button at once.
I tried keeping a third finger on the touchpad as the workaround for left click
but it
I have experienced the same behavior as Rick described in comment #7.
Although minor I would still consider it a bug.
The reasoning is that a hardware button press should always register as a mouse
press event since it is intentional.
This specific hardware has been troublesome over time giving
Furthermore, I notice that drag and drop does not work at all after a
resume. I suspect this was the x-factor that led to the inconsistent
behavior. Note that drag and drop works after I log out and log in
again.

Ok, I figured out what is going on. Many releases ago, I was trained to
use just my fingernail on the bottom edge of the trackpad for left
clicking while scrolling. If I do that now, drag and drop does not work.
If I use my finger more fully on the button area, it works.

A few weeks ago there were some experimental changes in synaptics, which
I found caused dragging to stop working on my 10v. But that work got
reverted a couple weeks ago, and dragging restored on the 10v after
that. Possible you just had an old -synaptics installed somehow?

I'm stumped. I don't see any bad values in your xinput props. Was it
working before and then it stopped?
Please record the events from your trackpad using the instructions here:

Perform a simple click and drag with two fingers.
So, strangly, I can no longer reproduce this issue. I have no idea what
happened, but I don't think it's worth pursuing this bug at this point.
