Stefano, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

Still a problem with Saucy. If I use the xrandr workaround, the display
is not positioned correctly on the screen...off to the left

I've encountered something similar to this bug with my Toshiba NB205
netbook, only it's affecting the screen on the netbook itself. It was
working fine before, then after a recent update, the display won't,
well...display at the correct resolution (1024x600). Trying to force
that resolution through
I was able to fix the problem with a workaround:
- I know from the TV specifications (and from Lucid settings) that the maximum
resolution of one of my Panasonic TV is 1360x756
- I search for the 1360x768 modeline:
cvt 1360 768
- I obtain a modeline, wich I add to the TV (VGA1) with xrandr:
xrand

I just tried with two different TVs, via VGA: LG 37LC2R and LG 22LD320
and it works perfectly. So it looks like it's a only-Panasonic related
issue.

Looking at your Xorg.0.log, X is not receiving any EDID information from
the TV. So it's defaulting to the VESA modes, maxing out at 1024x768.
Check an Xorg.0.log from booting a Lucid LiveCD to see if it did receive
correct EDID information in that case. If so, post a copy of the
Xorg.0.log and
