In fact there are 2 different bugs:
1. the fact that the GPU hangs in the first place
2. the fact that the kernel is not able to recover
The first bug is probably in the xorg radeon driver and the second

I merged both bugs nevertheless because the bug titles and descriptions
do not match the 2 different bugs very well.

I think bug #986524 is the same, and has seen more

It seems to me that I'm running into the same issue.
Systems hangs, i.e. screen freezes, from time to time, sometimes I'm able to
escape to console, then I can see the pretty same errors in /var/log/syslog .

Ubuntu Precise Beta 2
