Error was gone again (not sure what caused it going away) and returned right
after upgrading kernel to 3.2.0-26-generic-pae.
So it definitely also depends on kernel.

I have installed a new machine with same hardware - again this error
appears. On a different machine with same hardware the error does not
occur any more. Strange.

In my case apport only wants to do a crash report only on reboot - but not on
relogin.
Is it possible that the problem is related to startup order of devices/services
during boot?
And apart from that I think that my problem is different from the original as
for me it still seems to be a "fake" c
Is there a chance to see the cause of the crash. All I get is
/usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py which is called for
generating the crash report. But I would rather like to know what is
initially causing the system to think that there was a crash (GPU
lockup)?

Tried several lid-open, lid-close scenarios but I don't get a real
lockup. In my case the error seems something like "fake"...

Unfortunately it is not a one-time-occurrence - happens even on cold boot a few
seconds after login.
I have a deja vu that we had that problem already with a previous Ubuntu
version where it got fixed.
Interestingly although I had several crashes right after boot with the
beta version also, this
I did a fresh 12.04 install of the release erasing previous beta install
and got the error on first reboot after installation - although no gpu
lockup seen. I also have an Intel graphic card.

Hi vijaikumar,
Sorry to hear you got a gpu freeze on your first ubuntu update
experience, that really sucks.
We do have some troubles with gpu lockups in certain circumstances, and
are working on investigating them as a high priority.
Unfortunately in this particular case apport didn't collect a
