Sorry about the wait. I've finally re-upgraded to 12.04, reproduced the
bug and ran the command to report the issue. On the first run my monitor
was detected correctly and I was able to operate without a hard crash.
After restarting the laptop, I was able to login fine again. I then
entered dis
apport information
