The status is shown as Fix released but I am still unable to use it in
Ubuntu 10.04 after reinstalling the xkb-data package. I also downloaded
the iso of Ubuntu 10.10 and mounted it to see if the keyboard layout is
included in it. But it isn't there too. So what is the current status?
By the way,
1) Remove nvidia dirvers and all dependencies
2) Update
3) Reinstall nvidia drivers

Sorry but you can't install proprietary graphics drivers on a live
system as that would involve updating the initramfs and rebooting, which
you can't do unless you install the system.
My suggestion is to install Ubuntu on a usb device (such as a usb hard
disk or a usb key that is big enough) and

I think I am having the same problem; seemingly randomly, the screen
goes blank then flashes white vertical stripes in the top half of the

have the exact same problem on ubuntu 10.10 but it works fine on ubuntu
10.04.

It is now 31/1/11 , even after all suggested updates have been installed the
problem still exists. I have noted an occasional nvidia logo screen appear
briefly at start up (not often). I have also had the start-up work perfectly at
times.

I have noticed that the crash happens in IOpenGLSurface::UnlockRect because of
a call to glBindBufferARB. I am able to go past these errors but only to fall
into more errors laters.
I Also noticed that Unity starts in indirect mode and the version of OpenGL
that is use is 1.4. This is the
I wrangled an unstripped version of evdev into my system and I managed a
better backtrace (I'm coming from bug #709915):
