I an happy to confirm that this bug is squashed in the new beta version
of Ubuntu Studio. The cloned system works for me both in BIOS mode and
UEFI mode.

Accepted xf86-input-wacom into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-

Ok, so I just did a quick test: downloaded the beta iso and ran it on
kvm - I was able to reproduce the issue. I was getting to the iso boot
menu and whichever entry I pressed I always got "file /casper/vmlinuz
not found" error.

You had no issues? What computer did you use for testing? Did you test
in a virtual machine? Could there be a race condition that affects only
some computers?
I tested in a Dell Precision M4800 with a cloned system from a zsynced
iso file, so I am sure that there are no download erro
