When you read the lapses of security at this president you start to believe
that you have heard the worst and you will not go any lower, but then you here
one that is so hilarious, then you start to wonder if there is anything that is
impossible to pass in failing to protect him. But here is a more hilarious one
that I read off the wire services. Before the infamous white house breach of a
man we now know went in to the second floor, president Obama went to Atlanta to
attend an event at the Centers for Disease Control and prevention in Atlanta
Georgia, and an armed man was allowed to ride in an elevator with the
president. Now we have not yet figured out what weapon this man had, we do not
know if he had a revolver an AK 47 or he had an Abraham tank but he was armed,
and he travelled with the president in the same elevator.

Really? It is the first time I have heard of a president travelling in an
elevator with any other person not included in the agency list. That elevator
only takes the president and the security service that is all. It seems this
president just gets piled up with the rest of the passengers and we move on
with our lives. If that is not a fireable offence tell me what is. Do these
people even bother to clean sweep these buildings? No wonder they stole a full
truck from his convoy man, this is bizarre as they ever show up.

Politico Piece Says Obama's Assassination Might Be Only Thing That Could
Improve Secret Service

A

new piece in Politico Magazine has
<http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/really-politico> some readers turning
their heads and going, 'wait, did they really just say that?'

The article, written by former Washington Post and Wall Street Journal reporter
Ronald Kessler, addressed the
<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/29/white-house-intruder-over_n_5902708.html>
growing criticisms of the US Secret Service in recent weeks. But the part
that's raising eyebrows comes at the very last paragraph:

"Agents tell me it’s a miracle an assassination has not already occurred,"
Kessler wrote. "Sadly, given Obama’s colossal lack of management judgment, that
calamity may be the only catalyst that will reform the Secret Service."

So wait, the only way to improve the Secret Service would be if Obama was
assassinated? And if that did happen, it'd be Obama's own fault for not fixing
things in the first place?

Salon called the article a

 "sickening piece." Talking Points Memo
<http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/really-politico> called it a "bizarre"
statement and wondered "what the Politico editors were thinking."

Other readers had similar reactions:

UPDATE: Politico later removed the line in question and
<http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/09/obamas-life-is-at-risk-111501_Page2.html#.VCxpDSlYQU6>
inserted an editor's note, stressing that the critiques of the last paragraph
"couldn't be further from the truth."

Read the full note below (h/t:
<https://twitter.com/maassp/status/517412972742709248> Peter Maass):

Editor’s note: Some readers have misinterpreted the original last line of
Kessler’s article as somehow suggesting that the president should be held
responsible in the event of his own assassination. That couldn't be further
from the truth, and we’re sorry if anyone interpreted Kessler’s meaning in any
other way.
