Greenhill's Wambuzi is dead By Elias Biryabarema & Samuel Wossita Jan 23, 2005
KAMPALA - Ms Gladys Wambuzi, the wife of former Chief Justice Wako Wambuzi and a career educationist, has died. She was 72.
Wambuzi, whose teaching career spans more than 50 years, died yesterday morning in Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with thyroid cancer.
Family members said she was flown to Nairobi early December. She died with her husband at her bedside.
At the time of her death, Wambuzi was the headmistress of the primary section of Greenhill Academy, an elite Kampala school for which she was also the majority shareholder.
She taught at several schools including Budo Junior, Gayaza Primary, and Mengo Primary. She started Greenhill in 1994 alongside others.
The body arrives at her home in Kisugu in Kampala on Monday. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning at Namirembe Cathedral. Burial is on Wednesday afternoon in Kaliro in Kamuli district.
