Remember the pieces I wrote about the City of Chicago few months ago? Well here we are, they are number one in the murders of 2012. Now here are some interesting numbers, in 2013 when you look at the shooting times, not the murders but when we only count the numbers of shoot outs that have happened in the city of Chicago, including the last night shoot out that got 13 people shot, they are actually lower than last year. As by last night shooting, there has been 1,600 shootings in the city of Chicago only to last night. If you consider the shot outs that happened in the same city last year to 09/20/13 they have actually dropped. I am trying to get the number of numbers of murders to today and I Have not got my hands on them yet. It is important for me to note that among those shot last night, was a three year old. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office told a Chicago Sun-Times reporter that no deaths were reported. Officials said the child and two other victims were in critical condition. The shootings happened at about 10:15 p.m. at a basketball court in the city's Back of the Yard's neighborhood on the South Side, according to the Sun-Times. A witness, Julian Harris, who said his 3-year-old nephew was wounded in the cheek, told the Sun-Times: "They hit the light pole next to me, but I ducked down and ran into the house." He said that gunmen fired at him from a grey sedan. People at the scene said two people may have been firing weapons, WBBM reported. No one was in custody, according to the station. Police spokesman Ron Gaines said that victims were being interviewed to determine the circumstances of the shooting. The shooting comes nearly three weeks after Chicago saw an outburst of violence over the Labor Day weekend that ended with eight dead and 20 others injured.
