Leave the G-String for the young
Let’s Chat With David Kibirige

Nov 20, 2003

It is human nature not to want to get old. So one can be forgiven for dressing like a teenager even at 60.

Much as I sympathise with people who fear ageing, I am angry at the way old women behave these days.

Recently I was at Crane Bank when I encountered a woman, who to be honest must have been around 65.

She was donning tight fitting pants, sunglasses (never mind there is no sunshine in Crane Bank). What was more disgusting was that her red G-String was popping out.

I was with my sister who kept on laughing at the woman until I told her to stop it.
This is one of the many cases in Kampala.

It is not surprising to find a woman old enough to have ten grandchildren donning shorts.
Many have the habit of wearing open back blouses.

You can say people have the right to wear what they want any time anywhere.

But I also say that we have the right not to be offended by your lack of fashion in addition to trying to preserve dignity.

Come on grandmother, it is not what you wear that makes you young.

Just be selective of what you eat. Plums (empaffu), avocados and honey can do wonders to your skin. Old women stop embarrassing yourselves.

My mother is old but she does not embarrass her self by dressing indecently. In fact when I see these women dressed scantily I just wonder why any one should condemn ekimansulo (strip tease shows).

It is worse with people who belong to the Mirinda-Fanta tribe. I mean the skin having patches due to over bleaching. If you think I am mean go down town Kampala.

This is where the highest population of this tribe is.

You look at a woman and feel sympathetic. The blood vessels are almost protruding. Because of this, her skin has four colours, green, red, black and pink.

I think I should be paid for having discovered this hidden tribe. Oh my God who told you it is cute to bleach your skin.

In fact this reminds me of a certain president in West Africa who outlawed bleaching.

Though a dictator even the opposition lauded him saying at least outlawing bleaching was positive dictatorship.

I now understand why former president Idi Amin Dada outlawed mini skirts. Before buying any dress, one should put into consideration the shape of her body.

Why should you put on miniskirts when your legs can be mistaken for toothpicks?

I am really sorry if I have offended anyone but forgive me because you irritate me on a daily basis.

I wish all decent ladies and gentlemen a happy idi el fitr.
