In a followup article (should I write one too?), Mr. Muniini has suggested  those of who found his initial articla offensive "labor under a burden of ethnic narrow mindedness".   Mr. Muniini seems to specialize in sticking his foot in his mouth. His pontifications notwithstanding, he has openly admitted to wanting more war in the North as a way of ushering in peace.

Anyhow here is one of the messages I received  in response to my essay about Muniini's initial article.  Since I did not  take time to obtain permission of its author, I have with held it  for privacy purposes, otherwise I have not edited it in anyother way.

Hi Mr. Semakula;

I have just read your piece in today's Monitor and do honestly appreciate it.

I'm not from Buganda but from Teso where the current war is decimating my
beloved kins. Although I'm miles away from the carnage, it touches the most sore
part of my heart especially when I read of the merciless killing of small
children with no knowledge at all of why adults like us disagree with each
other.

The issues you raise in your article are pertinent and expose the very cynical
personalities who move around in sheep's clothing when in reality they are
hounds out baying for blood.

I'm a keen reader of Muniini's pieces in the Monitor and had never known that
such a person with a look of objectivity could also degenerate into a person
advocating for the most bloody resolution of a conflict that the same method has
failed to bring to an end.

And people who propagate whisperings of tribalism are the very people whom
Uganda ought to be careful with. For many years Museveni became an ardent
advocate of cynical statements against the people from the north and to some
extent north-east. His is on record stating: "murderers from the north",
"Idiots" and "Biological substances" and many otehr statements that were
designed to antagonize the Ugandan tribes against each other. His statements
were no different from Obote's infamous "the only good Muganda is a dead one"
despite the fact that in his bed Obote would each night hold tight a Muganda
lady.

So, true, persons such as Muniini are the pests that our community must by all
means try to avoid.
