Northern war affects us all

The war in the North is like a cancer in the body of our nation. What makes it worse is that it is taken lightly. How this conflict was allowed to last this long, leaves a lot of questions.

Or, if other Ugandans think that it is only an Acholi, Langi or Iteso problem, then peace and stability in Uganda is a long way off.The current administration, by refusing or come up with a solution, has itself became part of the problem. But one thing is clear, every event has an end, so we need to pray that this war comes to an end soon.

The resources the country spends on this war could serve development needs. We should remember that when any part of the body is aching, the whole body feels the pain. It is time Ugandans started to rally together and tell their leaders, loud and clear, that enough is enough: there has been too much bloodshed.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
