Several UPDF soldiers were Tuesday injured in a bomb explosion in Pader district.

The incident took place in Agata village, Aruu county, about 30 kms south west of the district headquarters.

Military sources in Gulu said a bomb exploded amidst soldiers, leaving scores injured.

Earlier reports had said some of the soldiers died, but military officials in Gulu said they were only injured.

The number of casualties and the cause of the explosion could not be readily established due to lack of communication between Gulu and Pader.

The UPDF 4 Division Public Relations Officer Lt. Paddy Ankunda said he had heard of the incident but did not have details.

The injured soldiers were rushed to Kitgum Hospital by good Samaritans.

Meanwhile, a woman only identified as Ms Lacer, a Sudanese national, was shot dead in an army ambush at Pabbo displaced people's camp at 3:00 a.m.

Civilian sources said the UPDF had laid the ambush for the Lord's Resistance Army rebels.

Lt. Ankunda said the woman was a rebel collaborator.
