Guys,
Making your fibre choice now is a little more problematical than it was
last year. Its interesting to see what the hyper scale data centres are now
doing and how the new 100G "lite" 500m SM duplex costs have been slashed by
x10 through some smart re-engineering of the 10km 100G SM
MTP is generally only available in OM3 and OM4 in my experience, never seen
them in singlemode. We buy them from swalecomponents.com (Siemon branded).

this comes down to whether SMF transceivers are inherently more
expensive than MMF, or whether they're more expensive because they're
produced in

10GBASE-LR works over 1m of SM, and probably OM3/OM4, too. So why buy
two types of

Missing the point, I didn't say it's not used, I said stop buying

Hi,

multimode is used for 10G and 40G short range optics for a start..

Only used them SM, never used them MM. MM is old junk, people should
stop buying it then they won't be able to charge the slight (or huge if
you by Cisco/etc branded) premium for proper SM

We use MTP with singlemode regularly for bulk DC
