I'm writing to ask for assistance in obtaining host families for Messiah College students in January, 2005. (If you were a host family last year and you want to participate again, please respond to this email!)

I teach at Messiah College in Grantham, PA (near Harrisburg). This January I'm going to be teaching a course in Philadelphia at Temple University (Messiah College has a relationship with Temple; our students can attend Temple, live in our housing on Broad Street, etc.). The course is on urban families and requires the students to stay with actual families for 10 days in January. I'm looking for families who might be willing to host 2 Messiah students from January 8-18. The families would receive ~$200 for hosting these students (not much but I guess it's better than nothing!!). The students would live at the host families for those 10 days and attend classes at Messiah-Philly (Temple) during the day, commuting back and forth.

The goals of the home stay are for students to learn what it's like to be a family in an urban environment. We ask that the students eat breakfast and dinner with the host families during the week as well as all meals on weekends (if feasible, depending on activities, etc.). We'd like the host families to incorporate the students into as many of their daily activities as possible. For example, if you normally grocery shop on the weekend, take the students with you and let them assist in this task. If you attend a church or other religious community, please take the students. Generally our students are well-mannered, hard working, do not party, etc. I don't think families will regret opening their homes to 2 students for 10 days in January!

I need the following information from families are interested in hosting 2 students:

Names and ages of family members:
Address:
Phone:
Email:
Occupations:
Church:
Access to public transportation:
Gender of students able to host:

Please contact me if there are any questions! Thank you.
