Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I'd like to see the recollections of

The reason Woodland Terrace is included
Why single out Lauren? The entire block of Woodland Terr. has been
snorting fire over the 40th Pine project, quite publicly. Petitions,
the works.
In petitioning a government, there's a distinction to be drawn between a
simple, sound suggestion that lacks outspoken opposition, and opposing

The reason Woodland Terrace is included is because I wrote a letter to the
school district and asked them to include it. Lauren Leatherbarrow

Interesting points. To which, the following notes.
Penn does subsidize PAS, and thus the area that feeds it. However, this
is not, so far as I know, supposed to look like ... real market
forces; it just is what it is, a subsidy. Penn also subsidizes the
areas served by Lea and Wilson.

Liz,
Who knows? Anything could have happened. But most things in life that
could have happened, did not in fact happen.
Such reasoning is suspect, because it seems to be fueled by suspicion.
You look at each bump in a boundary and ask yourself if some Penn or
SHCA person might benefit.
I find ZIG-ZAGs in Malcolm X Park all the time. And that can only mean one
thing...a conspiracy. A conspiracy to start the Summer Heritage JAZZ Series in

Good work, Lauren!
However, PAS is actually 10% closer to Woodland Terr., as the child
walks, than Wilson is. Proximity is a factor in designing neighborhood
school boundaries.
In other words, your letter may have worked because, on reflection,
School District officials decided your point

You could just look at the houses and residents block by
block back then and suspect the pattern.
