We have to make sure that attendance is high at Mayor Nutter's Southwest Philadelphia town meeting next Tuesday, December 16th, to let him know that we are upset about the closing of the Kingsessing Library (adjacent to the meeting site!!!) and also Powelton/Mantua's Durham Library and the other 9 libraries which are slated to close on December 31st.
Here is the meeting information I've received: Meetings will be held from 7-8:30/9pm each evening. Members of the public should arrive at approximately 6:30-6:45pm. Dates and locations of the meeting are as follows: ..... Tuesday, December 16th: Kingsessing Recreation Center, 5100 Chester Ave. This is our one and only opportunity to speak directly to the Mayor and plead for the libraries. Please, please, come to the meeting! It would probably be a good idea to bring signs to wave, since the time is limited and everyone who wants to speak on this topic may not get a chance - but the signs will make our feelings clear to him. If folks need rides in the cold & dark, let's get together and car pool - let's not have anyone left out because they didn't have a way to get there! Please spread the word, spread this email, and if you need a ride or can provide a ride, please email that information. THANKS!
