This coming Saturday, March 5, is the final Penn basketball game at the Palestra for the season. The game kicks off at 7PM and the opponent is Harvard. It is Senior Night, so they will be honoring the seniors in their last home game. Penn clinched the Ivy League Championship last weekend (becoming the first team in the nation with a berth in the NCAA Tournament) and will be trying to gain some momentum for the tournament.
The Palestra is the finest place in the country to watch basketball and IS America’s most historic basketball arena. Lucky for me, I live in West Philly and do not miss many games there during the season. If you are on this listserv, you probably live here too. Penn is having a particularly good season this year. You should try and come to the game. I have always felt that one of the amenities of living in West Philly is that Penn's sporting events are in walking distance. It amazes me that so many of my neighbors have never been to the Palestra. In order to encourage your attendance, we will be receiving guests from 4PM until 6PM for dinner and refreshments. That will give us plenty of time to get to the game by tip off. I certainly do not know everyone on this listserv, but I am always willing to meet and entertain neighbors. If you know anyone who would like to come, bring them along. Kids are welcome both to our house as well as to Palestra for the game. The game is unlikely to sell-out since Penn’s spring break starts the day before. There is no need to RSVP, as we are just taking a guess as to who will show up and if we get more than expected, oh well. If you can make it, whether you go to the game or not, please come by.
