Dear Neighbors:

It always amazes me that people have lived in West Philly for years and never gotten over to the Palestra for a basketball game.  Below is an invitation I sent to a number of people on my email address book.  I am having some people over before the Penn-Cornell game this Saturday evening.  If anyone wants to come over, whether I have met you before or not, you will be welcome.  We have at least a few who are coming over and going to the game.  I may still be able to get half price tickets if you can drop money off soon.  You can also come to the game with a group afterwards, in case you were not inclined to go by yourself.  It should be fun.

Saturday Night, March 8 at 7:00 P.M.

Come See the

Penn Quakers

Defeat the

Cornell Big Red

In Basketball

At the

PALESTRA

This Saturday, March 8, Penn will play Cornell in basketball.  The game will commence at 7:00 P.M.  Penn is currently undefeated in the Ivy League standings.  If they win on Friday night against Columbia and second place Brown also wins, a Penn victory against Cornell will clinch a share of the Ivy League Championship for Penn.  This will be the last home game for the Penn seniors.  We could use some extra fans, as Penn's Spring Break begins on Friday, so many of the students will be away.

The Palestra is the most historic gymnasium in America.  If you have never been there, you should try and make the game.  It is a great venue to watch a basketball game and there are few experiences that match a close game in a packed Palestra.  This will not be a sellout and hopefully will not be close, but you will get a flavor of the place.

Before the game, there will be refreshments served at my home:

There are people who live in West Philadelphia who have never been to a game at the Palestra.  It is an amenity for our neighborhood to be so close to such superior entertainment.  No alcohol is sold, so it is also a great event for children.

If you want to go to the game, we will probably have a group going.  Tickets are $12, although I may be able to get tickets for $6 under a group rate - less than the cost of a movie.  I think that tickets for kids are also $6 on a regular basis.  If you want me to get tickets, let me know ASAP.

Try and let me know if you can come, but if you are not sure or have a change of plans, feel free to just come.
