This morning, I placed our recycling out for pickup. I specifically set all the
recycling (mixed paper, cans, glass newsprint) about ten feet from the trash.
To make sure that the mixed paper wasn't confused with trash, I put all the
newspapers on top of the bundle of mixed paper. The

I'll second the large rectangular bin option. Never yet had a problem.
Amusingly, the recycling website,
http://www.phila.gov/streets/recycling.html, says that mixed paper
should be put in a grocert bag or tied
