In partnership, University City District (UCD) and the Penn Alexander School are organizing the University City Community Night and Safety Fair to be held on Thursday, April 21 from 6-8:00pm (on 43rd Street between Locust and Spruce streets).
The goal of the fair is to provide a fun environment where families and community members can be engaged in and educated on issues relating to safety and crime prevention. University City District, who has a unique partnership with the Penn Alexander School, understands the necessity of continuously raising the level of safety awareness. Lieutenant Fred Carbonara of the Philadelphia Police Department says, “Education is one of the best methods of deterring crime, and fairs like this will help make people aware of the great safety resources available to them in University City.” Participating organizations and amenities include: ·University City District will display information on the neighborhood as well as have Ambassadors present ·Allied Security will be providing free kinderprints and crime prevention information ·University of Pennsylvania Police ·Neighborhood Bike Works will be sharing bike maps as well as information on their summer bike camp and general bicycle safety ·Philadelphia Police will be present and sharing information on crime prevention ·Philadelphia Fire Department will give a fire engine tour and provide literature on fire prevention ·Red Cross will provide information on disaster preparedness, blood donation, and youth training programs ·Other organizations such as Project H.O.M.E. and Safe Kids Coaltion will provide literature as well Free food and beverages will be served.
