As some of you know, one half of a twin recently came down South 48th street.
The group of neighbors who live next to what was once a hulking ruin are now
working with UCD and our councilperson's office to keep the newly vacant lot
from remaining an eyesore.

There's a very simple way you can help: Don't throw out your potted bulbs.

Those Easter lilies and grocery store arrangements are fading now, but there's
life in them yet. A handful, like paper whites, cyclamen and amaryllis aren't
winter hardy in our area. The rest, planted outside now, will come back next
spring and provide years of blooms.

Take a moment, and imagine one more tree lawn sprouting tulips, not trash,
every spring. Pretty picture, no?

Donations of "spent" bulbs (if you haven't decided to save them yourself) may
be dropped off at any time on the porch of the surviving twin. Email me
offlist for the exact address; send your address and i'll try to arrange
pickup.

Thanks for your help!
