Subject: Public Hearing on Proposed Consolidation of Park Management
Philadelphia Parks Alliance advocates, builds coalitions, and educates the public
in order to achieve superior systems of parks and open space for Philadelphia.
Summer is winding down and the Labor Day holiday weekend is fast approaching. Many of us will be celebrating with familiy and friends, and even gathering in parks throughout the city for barbeques and other festivities. After that, it's back to school for the kids, and back to work for City Council.
When City Council reconvenes again next month, a public hearing on Bill. No. 050679, proposing consolidation of the Fairmount Park Commission and Department of Recreation, could happen as early as the second week of September. We'll need as many people as possible to come out on the day of the hearing and send a message to the mayor and council members. The exact date has yet to be determined, but rest assured that we will keep you informed.
