Had the same problem with Ubuntu 5.10, while it works fine with Debian Sarge.
Reason: ghdl looks under Ubuntu 5.10 for the ADA runtime in
ghdl -e -v hello_world
-L/usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux/3.4.4/adalib/ -lgnat-3.4
Under Ubuntu gnat-3.4 however installs into

There are also some wxThread related bugs which make it very unstable on the
current ubuntu release.
I guess tin the near future every wx based application developer will recommend
to install the 2.6.3 .
The existing wx dapper packages will become unusefull even before it gets

It seems that this has been fixed since a several months in checkinstall 1.6.0
(patched for newer glibc versions). So, when this version of checkinstall is
going to hit the Dapper repo? Isn't this a CRITICAL bug for all package
maintainers?

The problem lies in how libkdesvnpart.so is built. There is a slight
difference between the version produced by a local build an the version in the
kdesvn package.
Here is, for proof, the difference between the output of objdump -x for both
file, the left hand file being the package's
I can verify that this problem no longer manifests itself on Dapper. I had
f-prot installed, so told it to update, all OK. I purged it from my system and
installed it again, all OK.
Bug is fixed I'd say.
