Easytag crashes when I'm attempting to select a directory from the list
view.

This may be the same bug or a related one, as there are quite a few bugs
being listed regarding Compiz + screensaver + games, full screen or
otherwise. The bugs I've seen under all Ubuntu distributions are:
1) Compiz + screensaver + games = Screensaver snaps the game out of full
screen mode becaus
n.b., I switched back to carrier (Bitlbee problems), and it doesn't have
this problem, so Pidgin is probably fine too.

I dunno about reproducing this. I just installed it.
sudo apt-get/aptitude install listen.
Then on terminal run listen
$listen
then When listen opens used preferences
Music > Preferences
in General
checked Enable trayicon
checked Close to systray

finish, but now when u mentioned it I remember I had problems where a
child process (where the script is being run from) wouldn't exit
properly continuing to execute parent code. in that case the answer is
