One more freeze this evening, before having a chance to restart X
following the xorg.conf change. This time I could get a remote console,
so I have another reg_bad2.txt attached.
This freeze again left the cursor alive, and coincided with some rapid
desktop-flipping and window-switching (under me

The only thing not working is the 'stylus' does not rotate with the

I tried playing Glest on my Ubuntu 8.10, and I am sorry to say that the
port is somewhat broken. After playing for a while, the game (which
begins full screen) becomes a window (see attachment), and playing
becomes a little tougher.

Thought I should mention that although I have compiz installed, I
disabled it (metacity --replace) prior to starting the SDL game because
it caused bad flicker.
So it has nothing to do with Compiz.

Thanks for the report and the fix. I ended up using a slightly
different approach. I've uploaded it for Jaunty, but it's not certain
it will get in at this late date.

Further investigation by James Westby shows that the configure-script
should always be passed -mno-sse2 to prevent the compiler to use
instructions specific to one architecture. debdiff attached:

I'm using a display size of 1280x1024 @ 60 and afaik virtual display is set to
same size.

I can confirmed this problem with kile 2.1 in Jaunty. When typing a long
line, it becomes very slow. Same problem also exists in kate with about
500 characters in one line. I just open kate and kile and start editing
by pressing key without releasing. The slowdown is obvious once the line
gets lon
