Confirmed it's an ATI radeon HD3450 as per asus web site:
http://www.asus.it/products.aspx?l1=24l2=165l3=0l4=0model=2728modelmenu=2
Just have to go home to have a glance at that gconf key.

@Christoph B - you possibly are seeing bug #364319
As a workaround I rebuilt the package (as is - no changes/patches applied), and
it now works.
(ie. apt-get source pstoedit - apt-get build-dep pstoedit - dpkg-buildpackage
- dpkg -i).
pstoedit now has various 'plot-*' filters, in particular,
Thanks for reporting. Is this still an issue for you? Could you also try

Hi Andrew
No, actually a rebuild does not change anything for me. I have to
install libplot-dev (which is not a build dependency), and then a
rebuild will include the plot-* filters.
So I think the dependencies need to be changed, probably to include
libplot-dev as build dependency, and
It should probably also mention that this is Ubuntu-specific. Upstream
has UXA as default and no longer support XAA or EXA.

[Q45] Display corruption on Intel chipset
Thank you for attaching the necessary information. Since this is an
upgrade, there may have been stuff left in xorg.conf from then, so
please upload this so we can verify that this is not the case. You may
also verify that renaming xorg.conf does not change anything.

I use Dell Inspiron 1525 with Intel X3100.
It does look like its a dupe of 359392 but even though I put
SKIP_CHECKS=yes on
~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager
still it doesn't load up also if i do
Well! As soon as I reach home I can give you the answer about shadows,
but the card is not an intel one... the eeebox b206 seems to have a
fglrx (AMD) one.. since the restricted hardware manager detected it and
installed those drivers (without fglrx drivers installed I could barely
use the gui,
