The VirtualBox mouse driver isn't automatically enabled.
Does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf contain the line: Driver vboxmouse ?
You can call /usr/share/virtualbox/x11config.pl to add the necessary
config options.

7z also supports archive splitting which is VERY useful for archives
larger than 4GB, and as many cross platform drives still use FAT32, this
feature is used to move archives 4GB across to FAT32 drives.

Most new users to Ubuntu are moving from windows, or still using windows
and thus may need to transfer files between operating systems, and the
FAT32 file system is often used to make this easy.
FAT32 has a filesile limit of 4GB, so if you have a huge archive 4GB,
then 7z would be very useful
