I think this was introduced with an update since Karmic Alpha 4 was
released. If you make a fresh install of Karmic Alpha 4 this problem
will not display, but after updating packages from the repositories, it
shows up.

I should get Karmic alpha 4 installed on my memory card as well..
I wasnt able to get it on a USB stick using unetbootin, I guess it was because
Karmic used GRUB2.
Ill have to look into it and try running Karmic (I guess you could run it off a
CD and then make a bootable USB via Karmic itself).

I got the same error before. One way to get rid of the error is to increase
Image cache memory in Preferences. In my case, I set the image cache to
200MB and Hugin works perfectly.

With recent 2.6.31-7 kernel in Karmic, this issue becomes even worse -
boot process hangs after setting up dm-crypt volume. Booting -6 kernel

i upgraded the laptop longer ago and am testing support for external
monitors from time to time, before it would happen that the external
monitor was empty but the mouse worked and the laptop screen would have
a scrambled image on the top part. with an update in the last days this
degraded further
Dave, can you take a screenshot, or take a photograph of your monitor when this
Warning screen is displayed?
That might help us understand why this is happening.

I do appreciate that you're just trying to help, by the way, and I
acknowledge that this is a problem; I just see no way it can be fixed
here, other than simple dumb luck. As far as I can see you're trying
elsewhere to elevate this to something that means that GRUB 2 shouldn't
be the default, and

same problem here with virtual box 3.0.4, Karmic guest and debian lenny
