I am also having this same problem. s-video is what's doing it.
Both screens go blank, 'cept that small strip of color in the upper left
corner of monitor #1(laptop screen)

Hi!
This bug was known before I claimend it and the solution was already found.
Only the thing you have to do is before setting the resolution, disable desktop
effects (compiz). That worked for me. Details see also here:

when starting gnomescan there is a delay until my scanner is detected.
this delay (with spinning cursor) is not explained and seems weird.
there should be a message looking for devices or something like that.

Bdale, looks like the Debian package has the same issue: it lacks the
string in comment #4 and presumably won't support ssh-security. Short of
changing upstream configure.in, would it be acceptable to add a build-
dep on ssh ?

When I open audacity, Generate - Click Track..., I get an error dialog
saying Nyquist returned the value: 10. The output on the terminal is
different:
$ audacity

gnomescan should remember the window dimensions when exiting and use
them when restarting. with the default size the resolution slider is
quite useless for me and i have to enlarge the window every time i start
it. (see attached screenshot)

I get the same type of error when starting all kind of gstreamer
applications: RuntimeError: can't initialize module gst: Error re-
scanning registry , child terminated by signal
- gstreamer -rpopertiers
- exaile
- rhythmbox
- totem
This seams to be the same bug as
