I'll add friendlier errors for this, but the real issue here is probably
that ~/pbuilder is owned by root, not your user. The symptoms and
workaround you describe are probably not a bug.

For example: pull-lp-source qemu-kvm will download a file called

I use sbuild instead of pbuilder. I would be more likely to use sponsor-
patch if there was an option (or even better, a configuration flag) to
make it use sbuild.
